With the collaboration of researcher Maria do Carmo Piçarra, the Cycle of Cinema included short-films of the 1960s and 1970s, from Sarah Maldoror, Joaquim Lopes Barbosa and Manuel Faria de Almeida. In common the films, dealt with the subject of violence during the colonial period, both in South Africa, as in the case of the film Streets of early sorrow, 1963, of Joaquim Lopes Barbosa; and in Angola, with the film Monangambé, 1968, of Sarah Maldoror; or Mozambique with the films Catembe, 1965, of Manuel Faria de Almeida and Deixem-me ao menos subir às palmeiras..., 1972, of Joaquim Lopes Barbosa. The films, subsequently censored by the New State, had little visibility in Portugal. This cinema cycle showed films that are rarely shown and little available. The event also included the participation and talk of one of the film directors Manuel Faria de Almeida and the reading of a testimony of Joaquim Lopes Barbosa, who lives in Mozambique. SEE PDF
